Enhancing the professional participation of ICT teachers

Project Title

Enhancing the professional participation of ICT teachers

Project Coordinator

Professor Sue Trinidad

Period

2006

Funding Agency SiMERR WA

This initiative encouraged ICT teachers to share 'best practice' endeavours with the wider education community, particularly with regard to ICT learning and teaching practices that cater for and reflect features of rural or remote school education. Although small in scope, involving only two teachers, the impact on professional learning was broader, encompassing other teachers as well as the two sponsorship teachers, because the two teachers participated in professional sharing with a wider audience.

The two teachers sponsored were Peter Hazebrook and Paul Reid.

Abstracts:

Using Video-conferencing to Reduce the Distance
Peter Hazebroek, Assistant Principal, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Kununurra

This session will introduce participants to the use of video conferencing in the Catholic Education System and the capabilities it provides for creating a learning community for students and teachers who reside in geographically isolated areas.

Design with Comic Life and Kahootz
Paul Reid, ICT & LOTE Teacher, Paraburdoo Primary School

This workshop introduces the use of Kahootz and Comic Life to address the design aspects of the T&E outcomes. Participants will consider the design for a sustainable development of a town/suburb/school/Tourism Office in the form of a conceptual 3D model. Another activity will involve the Enterprise outcome in the production of a promotional poster made from your Kahootz snapshots and with Comic Life for a mock oral presentation to a group of venture capitalists.
